  • Coton De Tulear Pics! Finally!

    Hey all,
I posted a thread a while back about this breed, which I had never seen or heard of before. I got a great response from all and you guys REALLY helped me out! I finally figured out how to post my pics so I thought I'd show you all how it turned out so I can get some feedback! She was about 5 months old and a little angle! I hand scissored all over and touch up with thinnning shears. The owners loved it...

Of course the owners loved it. You did a wonderful job on her. What a nice coat for a puppy.

WOW, beautiful job. You've only been grooming for a little over 4 months?

I think you did an outstanding job. She looks so nice and fluffy clean. Nice scissor work.

All the hard work you've been putting in lately is paying off! Keep up the good work!

Yes, I've been dog grooming for a little over 4 months now... but I have had prior animal grooming experience. From ages 13-18 I groomed show miniature horses full time...lots and lots of clipper work but the scissoring thing is new, and fun!...The mini horse grooming made me fall in love with it....Thanks for the feedback!

You did a great job. I think I groom her twin, his name is Ringo. Mom likes to keep him short all year, he mats SOOO easy. Mom tried at first to keep him longer, but just could not keep up on the brushing. Ringo is a great little dog my daughter says he looks like a Q-tip. Owner always says when she drops him off "well here is the dirty little Q-tip" we laugh about it. I can't believe how much they look alike. I will post a picture when I find it, it must be on the other camera. Owner should be happy, you did awesome.

Beautiful job! They're great little dogs. The ones I used to groom didn't have nearly that nice of coat. Or maybe I should say they didn't have that much coat. It still matted up if you so much as looked at it, though.

Beautiful job! How could the owners NOT be happy with the outcome!?!
I'm like you, I've never seen one or heard one either. You're one up on me now, you've done one and I don't think I ever will.

She is really cute. You did a cute job on her. As a Coton owner I can personally tell you that they will matt up to the age of 2. They have CRAZY hair and until the adult hair grows in it will be a chore to groom so don't be surprised if she comes in matted and the owner frustrated. Hopefully they brush her daily.

Luckily, the owners do brush her everyday, and I made it clear that they needed to continue doing so if they wanted to keep her in a long fluffy haircut. Hopefully they will keep up with the good work.
