  • What beed was your first regular client?

On to a lighter fluffier question. What breed was your first regular customer?Mine was a springer named Duke.I was so excited when the customer asked for me the next time they brought him in I had only been a groomer for around a month.I continued to groom him for the next 8 yrs till he passed away.

    A westie named Duffy

A very thick coated Westie named Duffy. I was only there a few weeks and my boss said I f***** up the pattern line because I took it lower than the breast bone, due to the fact he had really thick hair and got a #3 on the legs and they wanted the skirt and furnishings real short. The owner loved it went on and on and said it was the best he ever looked and wanted me to do it all the time. Every time she picks the dog up she went on and made sure to tell me what a great job I did.

A family of 3 Bichons!!! Boy, did I learn quick on these guys! The owners loved me and were very patient. It took about 3 or 4 grooms before we got it just right, and now I love to groom them! I started as an in-home service, and the owner would bake me cookies on occasion. Each time I came, the hubby brought me 2 bottles of propel for the looooong day. By far, the MOST wonderful clients I ever had! When I had to leave the state, they BOTH cried and gave me a lovely ceramic plate with blue print on it...of BICHONS.

          Apricot Poodle

My first and regular client was an Apricot poodle that had the worst coat.
She liked the crunchy look so she never brushed it between appointments.
Unfortunately she was also my furthest appointment and when I started pulling back on the mileage I had to cut her out as she was my only client that far out.

Mine was a cocker named George, the owners liked his skirt shaved but the legs left really long, he was usually matted and his coat was unbelievably thick. He was also bonkers about clippers being near his legs, he would turn into a bucking bronco, we couldn't get the pads done with two people holding him and a 3rd clipping the pads! He'd even start squealing if I tried skimming the legs with a comb attachment.

I learned to deal with him, though, I found I could scissor the legs and even pads and he would stand perfectly still, and hardly faught at all for nails as long as I didn't get him worked up over the pads.

The first few times I groomed him I would come home and go "Ugh I had to groom that cocker, George again, what a rotten day!" So whenever I told my parents "You won't believe what happened today" or something like that they'd tease me and say "George came in today??" lol

Mine first client was a Min. Schnauzer name Abbey. She gets done every 7 weeks! Before we opened, our first week was almost booked because the previous groomer that rented from the pet store that we are located inside of quit like a month before. Everyone was ready from us to come in and start working!

Oh, I feel terrible. I can't remember who my first regular client was. I know the first one that I do remember is a poodle named Charlie. He was the dog I used for my "technical". He was a farm dog who come in black and left sparkling white. The owner knew how much I liked the dog and always requested me. Who knows, maybe he is the first regular one...OK, yes, he was....that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
don't find yourself up a creek without a poodle.

Hmm, that's a hard one. I think though that MY first regular client (most of the dogs at the shop I work at get groomed by anybody, we all take turns, but there are some that we get requests for) was a mixed breed. I think that he may be listed as shihtzu mix, but he's really skinny, and gray and about the size of a cocker (but real skinny and bony). He's not the best dog, but definitely not the worst. but she just loved how I did his cut the first time that I did him, and to this day when she makes an appointment specifically says that only I can do him (makes one feel good, lol, doesn't it?)
