  • Rough couple of days

Yesterday I was swamped as it is but a walk in bath ended up being a groom because it was a chow who was naturally matted to the gills. To add to the problem, he is 15 and has an attitude issue. lol

Well he didn't look perfect but the guy brought him back today because he wanted him evened up. Ugh

I did the best I could evening him up today, but then he started having seizures while waiting for the owner to pick up. I hope I didn't stress him out too much.

Its weird though, I have only groomed one other chow since I started working there, and yesterday I had two in! The other one I did was also matted, I should have gotten a picture though, she got a lion clip, which I haven't done on a chow before.

Yesterday I didn't leave until 8:00 and we close at 7! My last groom was done at 7:30...Oops! Today must have been "complain about your groomer" day, I had a lady complain that I quoted $55 and charged $60, I told my boss "Uh, no I charged $55-$60, she just chose the lower number" lol

Tomorrow I might get a new cat, another stray at work. My head says no, but my heart says yes, what's a girl to do? The cat is sweet and BEAUTIFUL I've never seen this coloring, she's a very rich dark brown but not quite black..Kind of like a havanna brown but with medium-long hair.

If you got this far, thanks for listening to my 5 rants in one.

Can you blame them? lol Well this lady was a POW she was mad at the world. When they couldn't find her collar he cussed my coworker out (kennel tech, but not the one who took the dog back when it came in to board). When she came in to pick up the collar after they found it, she complained about the groom price. lol

It is so the way that it runs! They hear the lower number, and that's it!

In any case, hang in there! I know that it will get better!

I usually try to go with what I think I'll charge as the lower number (x) and then quote them between $x and $x+5

SuzieQ, I think I am going to keep her! She's very sweet and affectionate, though part of that may be because she's in heat. I noticed worms crawling around her rear end so she was dewormed and given advantage today, I'm going to get her a rabies shot and give her a bath on Friday before I bring her home. I also need to get Dooley's shots taken care of and then both of them need to be fixed before Dooley turns into a big boy and starts to take interest in her. lol

I will definitely post pics, she's gorgeous, I spent a good hour or more looking for a pic of another cat with her coloring. She has medium length hair, her head is black and it fades into a dark brown everywhere else with a little white on her chest. Now I just need to come up with a name!

Oh yes, and I have already come up with the story to tell my landlord if they find out I have two cats, not 1. lol

Maggy, that lovely brown color is in color-point breeds, such as Himi, Ragdoll, Siamese etc., it's called "seal point". Your (soon to be) new kitty might be a mix with one of those breeds in the background. I have a Ragdoll who has a beautiful semi long coat, he has the dark brown head and lighter brown body. I've always thought the brown color to be striking on a cat. Best of wishes to you and the new kitty.

Thanks, CC! One thing I was searching google images and tried looking for was a "seal cat" to see if I could find a solid colored one, all I came up with were seal points and photoshopped pictures of seals with cat faces.

I can't wait to get pics, she's so pretty! You guys will be very envious I'm sure.
