  • wal-mart fabric going out

I just sent wal-mart a email asking why they are taking out the fabric center
telling how most of us groomers get our material there for are dogs.
maybe if everyone sends an email telling how dissapointed we are maybe it will change there mind. It's worth a shot at trying. Other wise we will be paying higher price or go to o bandanas for dogs. or even raising grooming price to make up the difference.

    that stinks

    Hi 4 Paws,

I was just at my walmart (the only place I by bandanna material) and they told me the same thing.. They are replacing this walmart with a Super Walmart but will not have a fabric section..THAT REALLY STINKS.. We use alot of bandannas at my shop..every dog doesn't leave without one. Some of our customers get quite upset if we forget to put one on..at $1.00 / $2.00 a yard, you can't find it any cheaper...I will definitely email them as well.

      check online resources

If the WalMart is going to discontinue their fabric department then stock up now! They will probably have some killer sales coming up to close out the department. Meanwhile, there are some online alternatives and one site has a huge selection of material for $1.97 a yard.

Wholesale Apparel Fabric at Outlet Prices. Browse our Enormous Selection. Huge Selection Of Fabric. Save Big! Discount Prices. Free Shipping Orders $79+ 25,000+ Fabric Choices. Services: Apparel Fabric, Discount Fabric.

      Good luck!

Our Walmart doesn't know when they are getting rid of the fabric. They said not until the new SuperWM was built..which is on hold once again..has been for the past 3 yrs. They said that they are still ordering , but if the SuperWM gets built, they would be replacing the fabric and other craft items and bringing in more party oriented stuff. Personally...I could do with out a SuperWM..I don't think they have as much of a selection, and we already have 4 grocery stores and a party store in town.

Anyhow..I was told with ours, that it wasn't going to be anytime soon...could even be 3 yrs. I am just buying some fabric everytime I go in there and stocking up.

          Discontinuing fabric dept?

My WalMart says that they know nothing about discontinuing their fabric dept. The ladies there are very forthcoming and insist that they would let me know immediately if there were any chance of this happening. Is it true that ALL of the WalMart fabric depts are being phased out?

In my area all the "regular" walmarts have closed and all we have are the Super Walmarts. The newest only 1 year old and they all have fabric centers and as of today- I was there getting St Patricks material- they said they knew nothing about the material center closing. I guess I will have to see what happens but I will email them.

Our local Walmart carries a nice variety of bandanas. For 96 cents. They have dog paws on them and a variety of colors. I use the big bandanas on my big dogs and with material make small ones for my small dogs.

I work at Wal-mart and my husband has too for the past 4 years. Never heard of wallymart getting rid of fabric so far. Grew up with a supercenter in Oklahoma and we had a fabric and craft dept, one in Texas did too when I lived there.
So did wal-mart email you back at all?
I did a search of walmart fabric dept and found this on another message board..

"I just received an E-mail response from Wal-Mart concerning the removal of the Fabric Department in their stores. Here is part of that E-mail.
"In those stores where the new crafts and celebrations center is placed, merchandise commonly referred to as 'notions' will be included in the product offerings - such as sewing machines, yarn, needles, thread, etc. As a part of this conversion, most of our new and remodeled stores opening in early 2007, as well as a small number of existing stores,
will feature the new crafts and celebrations center in place of cut fabrics. Wal-Mart will continue to carry cut fabric in most of our stores." "

Well, that's good to know. We have like five in a twenty mile radius, lol, so I've got a chance of at least one keeping the fabric dept.

My Wal-Mart said they would still be having the fabric department. There just anything too close to buy fabric at that I can think of. There had been a few but since Wal-Mart came in a few years back they have all closed up.
Hopefully the ladies that work there know what they are talking about.

I was told of this a few months ago from a client who works at Walmart. I then checked with another employee. She said the samething, however they do not know when they will start phasing it out. I was also told that they already started phasing it out in another Walmart that is about 30 minutes away. There are alot of older women in my area who do alot of sewing and they can not drive themselves and they have to get rides to Walmart for their fabric. This will not only hurt us groomers it will also hurt them, as they will not be able to get a ride to the fabric store 45 minutes away. Not to mention that the same fabric that is $2 a yard at Walmart is doubled at the fabric store. I will be e-mailing Walmart ASAP.

I called Walmart's corporate 800 # a while back & they told me it was ALL Walmart's who would eventually be phasing fabric out. My local Wamarts have all confirmed. Who knows, everyone gives you a different story. I am stocking up now though.
