  • Spoke with the Scottie owner

Enough of that old thread about the scottie. New one now. You may remember, the scottie only getting a refresher bath, but it was more matted than expected.

Well, the owner finally made it back from Las Vegas and I called to speak with her. She told me that she had not realized she was matted but that the dog "tends to be that way," that she gets her groomed every month but, "She's never very happy with the groom. The groomer doesn't do the eyebrows right," and I asked her what she meant (I already knew), and she said it looked like one eyebrow.

I told her politely that I didn't make it a habit to talk down about other groomers, and that it didn't matter to me where she wanted to get it groomed, but that if shes wants a more proper trim, to make sure that the groomer clips the back of the ears, (this dog had fluffy ears front and back) and that they divide the brows. She also said the uni-brow was "too long" for her taste. Yes, the brows were dangling like long hair over the eyes.

She said she wanted to try me, and I told her she was welcome at my shop any time. She seemed glad I talked to her. Also, her dog began throwing up after they picked her up from the boarding/animal hospital, and she seemed a bit upset at first but after talking to her about the grooming she then said that she and her husband had concluded that the only difference was that the dog was downstairs (less human contact) instead of her usual upstairs visit. This could be true, but anyway she was happy at the end of the conversation and had come to positive conclusions without me having to point out what I felt was obvious. I'll keep you posted from here.

Glad to hear it all worked out.
If your dog is fat, you are not getting enough exercise!

A neat trick with Scottie or Schnauzer brows is to use thinning shears near lashes across and corner of eye holds vbows up.. Tried on halle and clients works. Some Schnauzer brows fan up..I brush em back for eye contact with my own dogs. Sorry my typing is very bad today...up til 4am weary..Travi troubles....

It always amazes me when groomers & customers don't communicate on how they really want the dog groomed! I ask questions but constantly hear that the last groomer just did what they wanted to. Glad she's comming back to you, Tammy. That lady will be so happy with a proper scottie cut!

Good tammy, I'm so glad that it worked out for you!

Oh yeah, was the dog eating the kennels food, or their own food? We provide food at our kennel if they want it, and we've seen some dogs with sensitive tummies that get sick when they switch from their own food to ours. I don't know if you all provide food, but it's just a thought .

Way to go, Tammy!! I knew it would work out. And you've got a nice monthly client to boot!
Old groomers never die, they just go at a slower clip.

                      Groom on!!!

                          Go Tammy Go

After all hallabaloo, you got a new client.
Money will buy you a pretty good dog but it won't buy the wag of it's tail.

Rapuzzled, that was the FIRST question out of my mouth when she brought up the dog vomiting. No, her own food. And the dog was quite happy on my table. I actually think the dog was just excited to be home.
