  • Shamrock N Roll groom ideas

Ok, I'm training to run in the local radio station's 5K road race with ZZ, my Std. I am planning on dyeing him green, white, and orange for the run (Irish flag for those who don't know). I doubt I'll win, and am not trying too, but they have a best costume contest as well. If ZZ is the flag, what should I be? I'm thinking leprechaun, which is especially funny since I'm 6' tall. Any other ideas? Please be kind as I have to run 3 miles in this costume.

I would've done something better on Z, but he will be pretty hairy since it's only a month before Intergroom, and I'm competing with him. (don't worry I'm only using temporary hair spray...it'll wash out with one bath)

I think you should color the poodle like a rainbow with a pot of gold. Just a thought.

Maybe the dog should be the leprachan. Orange hair on the head and use the spray to make green jacket, black belt and green pants. Paint nails gold. You could be green with envy. Paint your skin green.

I like Diamie's idea of making him the leprechaun. You could go two different ways with your own costume; a banshee or a pot of gold. For the pot of gold, use paper coins that you spray with gold paint and glue them to a yellow running suit. Literally, a banshee is just a woman of the faerie folk, so use your imagination and just go with it. Lots and lots of very light weight, flowing fabric over a running suit. Very pale make-up, and make it dramatic. A long, flowing wig with very small flowers and ribbons woven into it. And maybe a metallic, filigree headband.

Helly's daughter is a costume designer so ask her.

I love the pot of gold!! I think I'll do that. I'll do my best making him a leprechaun...we'll see how that works out.

My mother would always say I screamed like a banshee, so I know them well....wouldn't even need a costume to be one, lol.

Thanks all, I'm going to work on my costume, and if it looks good, I'll post pics!

                off the subject question

I am new to the area of color. I have a white standard poodle and I would like to put shamrocks on her rear, but am unsure of how do this. I have used the spary on wash out color on her and that worked okay, but only lasted about 24 hours. I would like something a little more long lasting, but not to long lasting. Any and all suggestions would be helpful.
PS. I love the costume ideas, very cleaver.

Do a search for blo pens on this site....there's TONS of info. Also, you can get them at most craft stores. Use stencils they work so much better than trying to freehand. You get nice crisp edges. Blot it when your done with paper towels so it doesn't bleed onto other things like your clothes, or your furniture.

I never even heard of a banshee before, so I looked it up, very interesting!

Blo pens will last. Depending on the dogs coat they might last for a while. My am. staff still has a wreath on her from 3 weeks before xmas. But as much as she sheds it does not seem that the green hair is shedding lol
