  • Matted Mess Day

First I slept in, then it took me about 20-30 minutes to find my car keys, once I got out the door I made it about a mile from my house before getting stuck in bumper to bumper traffic! I got to work an hour late and already in a rotten mood and here's how my day went after that:

Dog #1: Shih tzu, very wiggly and fights but not aggressive. His card says "Try to leave hair long" I had to use a #7 a/o with a 15 on the insides of the legs.

Dog #2: Dark gray flea infested bichon, usually gets sedated, I can see that he's a mess without even touching him. The card says to call the owner which I do, she says "they always shave him down, please leave it longer this time!" Ugh I said I'd do what I can. I ended up not having to sedate him but he put up a good fight! It was odd though, if the clippers were off he was just fine, he was falling asleep while I scissored his head, but I had to put two muzzles and the GH on him to get the legs shaved! (One muzzle was to keep his mouth closed and the other muzzle was because the first one didn't work 100%. lol)

Dog #3: Lhasa mix, usually just gets a trim up and rarely has any tangles at all. Owner says she's been not brushing her to try to make the kids do it, but it doesn't seem to be working. I was actually able to brush this one out, but she was borderline, I almost called the owner to get permission to shave her.

Dog #4: Lady called and said her schnauzer was matted and can I squeeze her in, I agreed and she never showed up. I guess I got a bit of a break today!

I guess January must be "don't brush your dog month"

UH yeah. Didn't you know that it was neglect your dog month. I had a sheep dog to do today the lady said "he is bad" thank god there was no where for me to park so I just got to go home. Leo my regular who has always been a sweat heart bit me this morning. On my way to my first stop I hit a patch of ice and me and my trailer went a slidin. Almost crapped my pants. I just got a call for a GP that she said she has not been able to brush for 6 weeks cauz she hurt her wrist. What about her other hand?
If your dog is fat, you are not getting enough exercise!

I don't know how to respond to this. "Slept in", I have never "slept in" and showed up to work late. I lived in snow country most of my life and still never showed up late, esp. from sleeping in. I hope you had a nice snooze.

Maggy this is how I remember where my keys are, and also how I remember to take things to work with me (or appts. etc) ...

I always put my purse by the door, and my keys stay with my purse. If I need to take something to work tomorrow, it too sits by my purse.

Can't leave without all of them.

It figures, its a full moon! Everything makes sense now!

Diamie, I must not have gotten the memo!

Astrodog, I have issues with waking up, it takes me a long time and I'm very groggy at first, but when I say sleep in I mean I would have been there on time but with no make up or breakfast. The 30 minute key search and hour in traffic is what made me late. :P

Luckily, there's no set time for me to be at work, I aim for 8:00-8:15 but sometimes I'm 'late' by my standards but no one ever notices or even comments if I come by at 9:00. I've been told rumors that the groomer before me would sometimes not show up until noon or even as late as 2 or 3 pm, the latest I was to work has been 10:00 and that was because I forgot to set my alarm! That was also on my 3rd day of work, thank goodness they didn't fire me! I woke up to my phone ringing my coworker was calling to see if I was planning on coming back. lol Luckily I think she could tell it was a mistake. (Like I said, I'm groggy when I wake up)

Tammy, I used to do that and my purse got something spilled on it, I never bothered to get a new one. I guess this is an excuse to go shopping!

Admittedly I can be a flake, when I come home from work I tend to just toss everything down and then plop myself down to rest from a long day. Thats what I did yesterday, after two extra-long (9-10 hour) days in a row I fell asleep at 8:30 and woke up at 7:10 or so, so yes I enjoyed my snooze. :P

Your day will always go bad if you start it off that way. need to take a step back deep breath and scrug off the bad vibes or else the dogs will go nuts they go with what your felling deep breath.......and enjoy the rest of the day it could of been worse and gotten into an accident but you didnt.

I'm one of those freak of natures that is a morning and a night person. I can stay up late, get up early, and be chipper all day. The only problem with lack of sleep for me is that I can't work as quickly, I need more time to think.

But I always wake up early, even on my days off. I wish I didn't, I just do. It must be a sign I'm getting older. My grandma wakes up at 4:30 every morning. UGH, no thank you.

Maggy, those long days are hard, be sure to give yourself some relaxation time.

Supermutts is right though, if you don't clear your mind, the dogs will know it.

Glad that you are perfect. I have accidently hit the off button instead of snooze and over slept. Sometimes when I am running low on sleep I do things like that and don't even know I did them.

hehe To give you guys an idea of how bad I am about getting up in time, here's a little story...

When I was in highschool I had the same problem, I'd get up in my sleep, turn my alarm off, and go back to bed! So I went to walmart and got a couple clocks and searched around the house for a couple that weren't being used. I stragetically placed 5 alarm clocks around my room and set them all for the same time. The next morning when they went off I got up, turned them off one by one, and went back to bed! lol The morning after THAT, I set them all 5 minutes apart. When the first one went off, I got up and turned all of them off before the 2nd one went off.

Pamperedpups, I'm with you, if it were up to me I could stay up all day and go to bed at 5 am, then wake up sometime in the PM.

I'm kicking myself, though, because I wish I had taken pics of the dogs I did today, especially the bichon! He went from dark gray to off white!
