I think it would be great to belong to a grooming association. this board is about as close as I get to belonging to a groomer anything. I can't find anything locally that offers cert classes or even basic education classes on grooming. I have experience and even did an apprenticeship but I want more! How does certification work without flying to a diff state or driving hours away? I'm assuming getting certified involves taking some sort of test ( I hope). I don't want to spend a bunch of money just so I can get a sticker and a nice wall hanging saying I'm a member to an organization, anyone can throw a sticker on their window claiming whatever they want! Any help??

"Additionally, written examinations may be taken in your city through a local Proctor service. Proctors can be anyone that has completed their certification process and is approved by ISCC to administer tests or an individual who has no affiliation with the pet styling industry nor you or your salon (i.e. librarians, teachers, veterinarians, etc.)."
You still might have to travel to do your practical skills testing though. Here's the direct link to their certification page:
