natural air force dryer question

my boss got me a natural air force dryer and it's 3 hose cage dryer adapter kit. I'm trying to assemble it so I can use it, but I can't figure out how to attach the 2 long metal hooks from the adapter kit to the dryer grill... the hooks seem to be too long...

Anybody have any experience with this? Any ideas?
