  • The Lap Method

    Hey Seleste,
I just wanted to let you know, I tried the lap method yesterday. All I can say is Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! They calm right down. I layed my forearm across the chest so he could rest his feet and he almost went to sleep during the groom. I've always held them on my lap if theyre fearful of blow drying but had never thought to lay them on my lap on their backs, to shave. I know with rabbits you can do this and it puts them to sleep. Never thought it would almost have the same effect on a cat. SOOOO..thanks again!

I have been cutting my 2 kitties nails (all 4 paws) for the past 2 years with them on my lap just like you describe Kim. It's the best way I have found to do them.

My oldest one is 'pretty mean' LOL.... and have been able to comb his belly only when he's on my lap, it works wonders.

I tried that with a kitty recently, but he still fidgeted and stuff. It worked somewhat, but not as well as I would have liked. I guess it takes practice and the cat getting used to it.
