  • e-collar vs the air muzlle

For those who use the air-muzzle do you feel it has an advantage over a plain e-collar?

Yeah. The e-collar doesn't always extend in front of the face so you can sometimes still get bit.

      Yeah, what Smart said.

The e-collar provides maybe 60% protection, while the Air Muzzle provides 100% protection.
As a groomer of cats, I prefer 100% protection whenever possible. I like my fingers and hope to keep them for a long time.

Yes definately an air muzzle is much better than an e collar. You can make an air muzzle out of 2 e collars, its cheap and easy.

Could you explain how you would do this? I am just starting to learn about cat grooming & can't really afford the air muzzle right now, although it looks great. Terri

Yes, there are pics on Facebook. You just tape 2 together at the wide ends, insert head through one end, then secure it to the grooming loop so they cant shake it off. I like them to be a bit loose around the neck so that with the dogs I can pull the ears through and work on them or stuff them back inside out of the way. Most animals tolerate them very well and they seem to stay calmer than with a muzzle and dont get a wet mouth from panting and drooling in the muzzle.

                  muzzle option

Thanks for the link I think I will definitely give this a try. I would invest in the air muzzle if I start to do more cats for the safety of it but if they break that easy, I am not willing to invest. I will give this a try, looks like it could come in handy for a lot of dogs & cats when necessary. Do you have different sizes put together for different size dogs & cats? I thought those came in different sizes but wasn't sure. Great idea. Terri
