  • love cat grooming

I just wanted to say that I love cat grooming. Been cat grooming as long as I've groomed dogs but cats bring more money in less time, have nicer and trained owners, and most are nicer than dogs. I am the only cat groomer in my whole state LOL. Everyone else sedates them. People are so scared of them. Wooses.

Danelle Germans DVDs and book have saved me alot of time and scratches and would recommend them to everyone. too bad there is no cat groomers association in Australia... wish i new how to start one but dont have the time.

Anyone else actually like grooming cats more than dogs?

    Hi there!

If you look on Danelle's website there's a cat grooming encyclopedia also for you! I just groom cats also, and prefer it to dogs for the reasons you suggested.

      Hello Ashababe and hello Hellokitty!
Kitty, would you mind telling me how your circumstances are such that you are a cat only groomer? I too prefer to groom cats, but I'm not sure how to go about finding a location. Grooming from my home isn't an option, so I was thinking that renting space out of a vet clinic would be ideal, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I'd love to hear your story.

Ashababe, I wish you wouldn't be so harsh on folks who won't groom cats. Cats are tigers in itty bitty bodies, and dog people who don't speak their language are often harmed badly! You probably speak cat, so grooming them comes a lot easier to you than those who don't understand them.

Glad to see other cat-lovers on the board. I was raised with four of them, and I currently have one and a dog looks like a cat, and acts like one..It's a pomeranian that doesn't bark, sleeps most of the day, and I swear, cleans her face with her paws!

        love my cats

I'm mobile and do cats as well. Same as above they are quick to do and bring in good money as very few grooming palours will groom them. Mobile is ideal for them as no stress going into a carrier and the owner carries them to the van, way better trained owners than dog owners. about 30% of my business is cats. I will admit the other day I shaved down 4 cats in 2 hours - well behaved cats mind you, They cost about the same as one large dog that can take a couple of hours +. Lion cuts don't require bathing so no water used and if it's a sunny day no generator as you can use a rechargeable clipper and the atmosphere is quieter. I do give them a waterless bath.
Now I will admit I never do a cat by myself. My hubbie always comes with me as a cat can change from that cute kittie to a tiger for no apparent reason at times or the owner has just omitted to tell you, Kittie is actually that itty bitty tiger out of the house. I never use a muzzle only a cone to keep the dryer wind out of their faces ( They HATE that esp indoor cats)and their teeth from my fingers. He also helps in the lion cuts to maneuver the cat as they tend to curl up like pretzels.
I do love cats and worked in a cat hospital for years so have an understanding for them - also have a few myself.
        Love my dogs too

I groom 50 dogs for every cat that I groom. But I LOVE the kitties. Give me the kitty any day. Kitties are like puppies, they make me all warm and fuzzy inside.

            Ash -
I will be doing a 2 day cat grooming workshop in Sydney next April. The class includes hands-on grooming for attendees as well as lecture and demos by me.
