  • Petsmart tipping

I'm taking my puppy to be groomed at petsmart this week and was wondering how to tip when the grooming is in a petstore, not a regular grooming shop. Thanks!

I would say the exact same as you would anywhere else but I have never worked at one so I can't comment on that.

            Minimum $50 bucks.

Just teasin'. It's no different than any other shop. It's just an extention of the "pet store," and the groomers really appreciate it.

A groomer is a groomer, pet shop or private salon. No matter which, they could be great or terrible. (Think of going to supercuts vs. a day spa). I would just tip as you would tip your hairdresser, etc. I agree you should tip them directly, to make sure they actually recieve it!

I would say split your tip 25% / 75%... 25% to the bather and 75% to the groomer. Even as a Groomer, I must admit that my grooms are only as good at the bath and blow dry.

Ditto- if the bath and blow dry aren't good the groom isn't going to be either.

                    You may be asking

about paying at the pet store cash register. They have not taken tips as part of the payment at the register. You would need to have cash and hand it preferably to the actual groomer letting them know that you liked the grooming etc. Otherwise give it to the manager or person in charge hoping they are honest and forward it.
Money will buy you a pretty good dog but it won't buy the wag of it's tail.

I worked for petsmart 8 or 9 years ago, (for 2 weeks) and back then they did not allow their groomers to get tips.
They would ask the client to put the tip in a donation jar, and it went to the local humane societies....

I don't know if they have changed their policies since then??

I'd tip the groomer directly, so you're sure she gets the tip.

Groomers at that chain have to bath there own dogs so you dont have to worry about tipping the bather and they work on a commision base just like in a private salon so please tip the same:-)

Tipping is appreciated. You can give it to any salon associate. You only have to tip the groomer though, because bathers and groomers have seperate dogs.
