    Up to my elbows in crickets: Ode to My New Job

    Somethings are not so nice
    Like being bit by birds, hamsters and mice
    Oh, the things that I do
    Like cleaning up animal poo
    Eight hours of walking the sales floor
    Talking to customers who walk though the door
    Scrubbing tanks free of algae
    Mopping up puppy pee
    Even fish food flakes in the face
    Is much more fun than that OTHER place

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I got a job at a large retail Pet Store! IT is GREAT!!!!! The people/coworkers are SO nice, and patient. I have been bit by animals; flooded part of the store; had birds, hamsters and a lizard escape (in an enclosed space); hung up on callers...... and everyone is still so NICE. The standing/walking is a little hard on my feet, but it is so great!
    I used to work at a horrible, horrible job. The people were terrible and mean. Even with all the "hard" parts of my new job, I am SOOOOOOOO happy there!
          i worked at a petsomething and my grooming room was next to the reptiles. i hate to tell you how many mornings when i flipped on the light switch only to see a snake scurrying off. one thing i don't miss about them.
              LOL @ extra lizard!!
              Congrats on the new job. Snakes are just escape artists, so are lizards.
              I used to work at a shelter we had a lizard and snake section, everyday the kennel attendants were assigned a different area to work in. This one kid walked up to me with this odd expression one morning. He stutters and asks, "UH, did someone adopt ralph?" Ralph was a 6ft python. I looked in the bookwork and said, NOPE..lol.. We found him 3 hours later under a cabinet.
                Congrats, cute poem. When I'm not busy I go play with the guina pigs, bunnies, and then maybe the ferrets if I have time. We named the rat the escaped awhile back "Ferris" he visits the groom shop at way to early in the moring when all is queit.
                      The vet where I work has an Amazon parrot, he opens his cage all of the time and fly to the floor to waddle around. He has learned to mimic the phone ringing and that DRIVES us crazy.
