Hound, I am so sorry. This form of notification is totally unacceptable. I believe there must be an underlying reason... business has slowed down and she doesn't want to just lay you off or a friend needs the job. If you were in Florida I could use you:-)

Wow...I don't really know what to say, except I'm sorry. I think its absolutely horrible, and very unprofessional that someone would fire you through an e-mail. Even if you were the worst employee in history, I don't think its fair the way you were let go.

Hang onto Notes from the grooming table, and while you have free time, really go through it. You're bound to pick up something new. I did, and do whenever I use it.

Was this your first grooming job? It is very possible that you had the wrong teachers, or that you were set up to fail. I have seen that happen before. If you truly have the desire to be a groomer, don't give up because of this bad incident. Pick yourself up and start making the rounds. Good luck to you.
don't find yourself up a creek without a poodle.

        That's stupid...

That's horrible! Not to mention horribly unprofessional. I would go to your boss and ask them in person what happened and WHY precisely you were let go (just in case it was a fake message written by someone else). Hope things work out for you soon.

          Well,

Look, I don't know if you bathe a dog well, or are lazy or not, but either way, its probably a good thing.
You were looking for job when you found the one you had.
You will find another, and learn even more there.

One thing I do know about this line of work that stinks, is, when some people don't need help any longer, rather than just tell you they don't need you or why, they just start picking your work apart. Easy to do, and hard to defend.

I saw it at one place I worked, and I felt so bad for those gals. She was doing just fine, but the one gal, I think was afraid she might loose her job to one of them, and so started in. One by one all the help falls away, and she stays on top.
I left before it started happening to me, and I knew it would, sooner or later.
She could not risk having someone get to her level.
There are a lot of power strugles that go on, and it is better not to get in the war. Just thank God for the open window that you will find, and take any lessons learned with you.
Heres hoping someone finds you, that needs you.

Something sounds a bit off to me. A professional business owner should never use email as a means of communication with something as serious as termination! I realize putting it in writing is a wy of protecting themselves, however, they should have spoken with you about it first. It seems a conversation is necesarry in this situation. Perhaps you can call and speak with the boss? Whatever the outcome, you may be better off without this job....there are other grooming shops looking for bathers and with some luck you may find one who is willing to let you apprentice to beome a groomer. Good luck to you~ this is just one of many bumps in the road you will experience in life. Try to learn something from this experience and then move on, it's the only way. Keep in mind, we don't always click with everyone we meet, so there could be a personality conflict and it may have nothing to do with you professionally? I don't know, just trying to play the "devils advocate"

If someone was too much of a chicken to fire me to my face than I would move on. How freaking rude is that, even if there is a valid reason be a decent person and tell me to my face. Of course I don't know her side of the story. I would go to the unemployment office and if she doesn't have a valid reason for firing you and documented proof of verbal and written warnings giving you the chance to change "whatever she didn't like about your work" then she would have to give your job back or pay for your unemployment. Of course that all depends on how long you were working there. You must be employed a certain amount of time to qualify for unemployment.

                Hang in there

Sorry you were fired. I'm shocked they didn't have the courtesy of having a meeting with you about it, firing via email just seems spineless. Good luck finding a better employer though- perhaps it was destiny.

Wow, another reason email is not such a great thing! Any employer that would fire via email, is not the type of employer you would want to work for long term anyway. I am assuming that you were not working for a large corporate grooming shop, but more of a mom/pop type of place.

If you can get them to talk to you, I would try to get a more thorough explanation as to why you were fired. Go ahead and then take the information that you learned (whether true or not) and make sure that no other shop could ever make these accusations about you again! Do your best 110% of the time.

I know you can do it, don't let this get you down!!!

                    Apply elsewhere

Just keep applying at other shops. Let them know your new and need more training. You'll find something out there.

That stinks. It seems pretty cowardly that they fired you by e-mail; didn't have the guts to tell you in person I guess. Hopefully you find another grooming job soon, and working for better people than that.

I think firing someone over email is lazy. How inappropriate for an employer to not sit down with you face to face. Does your employer have a formal review process where any of the positive feedback was documented, assuming the praise you got came from the same person? Either way I think you need to have a sit down discussion with this person on why you were fired and why you were given mixed signals. Even if he/she still feels justified in letting you go, at least you'll be able to get some constructive feedback on why.

That's horrible and the nerve to do it through e-mail. They didn't even give you any kind of warning? You'll find something better, forget them!

Who knows....... it could be a mistake.
If you got complemented not long ago on your good work doesn't make any sence.
Print the message and try to clarify it with your superior.
                            Good luck!!!!

Fired via email???.....that's cold! Try another shop, make sure you are 5 minutes early everyday(as a boss I like that) and just keep your head in the tub! Don't bother the groomer with too many ??'s. If you are done bathing for the day and the groomers are still working ask if you can QUIETLY observe. Make sure all the dogs are completely dry and brushed out. Above all , don't be the shop gossip, there is enough noise without a chatterbox gabbing all day.
