Anyone going? This is going to be my very first trade show/seminar.. I'm so excited. What are some of the must see, must do's? Any insight on which hotel to stay at? How much cash should I take for the trade show? However much I take it probably won't be enough anyway! Hope to see some of you there!

I'd sure like to, but not sure if I'll be able to afford it at that time. It's not always the cheapest getting to Ontario.

I will be there. It is my first time also.
I'll be doing some cat grooming seminars as well as some live demos and running the NCGIA booth. If you are at all interested in cat grooming, please stop by.

I know some other wonderful speakers will be there as well so I'm sure any lectures you attend will be well worth the time.

There is a seat sale on right now.. a return flight from NS to Toronto is $366 with taxes and all. However you can only fly Tues, Wed, Thurs so it won't really work out unless you've got someone to visit/stay with. I'm going to be booking with my Aeroplan points from my store Visa card, which is a huge bonus!

I'll be there! There are a couple of hotel choices for you. One is the hotel at the conference centre. The other is the Quality Suites around the corner. Their address is: 754 Bronte Rd.,
Oakville, ON L6L 6R8. It's only a 3-4 minute walk. If you're renting a car, then there are a couple of cheaper places in Burlington (about 5-10 min drive to the hotels/motels). The conference centre is on the edge of Oakville, so it's about a 10 minute drive to the downtown shopping/dining experience or about 5-10 min. drive to the RioCon Centre - outlet shopping in Burlington.

It would be nice for us to organize a pg.com get-together. And you are right...there's never enough cash! They will have another mat contest, so bring along a creation made of clean, matted fur.

I just bought my ticket today! I have been to it several times. It's going to be great. Forget cash, bring a credit card with a large, large limit!! It is so nice to see everything instead of buying online or from a catalogue. The food is great. We'll have to go out for dinner one evening!!

I'll be driving from Ottawa and we usually stay at the hotel across the street because it has a Timmy's.

Thanks for the info! How about getting from the airport to the hotel? Do you know if they have shuttles for that? Or would I have to rent a car?

I'm thinking of staying in the hotel where the conference is, just for convenience sake and the fact that I've only ever been to Ontario once 8 years ago and I wasn't driving! Might be a little scary. But if that other hotel is only a few minute walk away and is cheaper, that might be the route I'll take.

I would definitely be up for a PG.com meet up!

              See you there =)

I will defnitley stop by the booth and am hoping to see some of your demos/seminars. I want to get into cat grooming but don't want to do it with very basic training.. handling was one thing they hardly touched on in school and I feel like that is one of the most important parts of cat grooming. If I do it I want to produce quality work that I'm proud of. See you there!

I found a great site for you and all the inbound travelers for Canada Grooms. It gives some examples of modes of transport and costs. I didn't go in-depth exploring (supposed to be getting ready for work), but looks like it offers some good solutions. Here's the link:

I was going to suggest a shuttle or limo service if you didn't want to rent a car. When I worked for a pharmaceutical co. they hired Red Car Services to bring people from Pearson to Guelph because it was the most economical way to go. I also found another shuttle service that would cost $60 one way. Here's the link: http://www.airwaystransit.com
                  /pearson_locations.shtml

If a couple of people were to co-ordinate their arrival/departure times, money could be saved on transportation and spent on shears and other goodies.

                    oh ya

I am really looking forward to attending this. Have never been to any grooming seminars or anything and I cannot wait! Would love to meet some people from the board and as for money, I dont even have to come from far away and I dont think I will have enough to get everything I would like. I am a bit spoiled though, I live about 5 minutes from Rens.

I was going to wait and go to the one in November because Jodi Murphy usually goes to that one and I would love to meet her. A summer trip would be nice though. I have never been to one either and have been saving. Elizabeth, I am in NS as well. PM me and maybe we could chat!

Hey Cori, I'm in Guelph. What to get together for a Timmies sometime? I too am spoiled in that The Pet Supply House is 5 min away and Rens is about 10-15 min.
PM me if you'd like to get together,
                        Karen

This will be my first time coming up to Canada for one of their shows. I was very excited when Wahl Canada called and asked if I would come up and do seminars and work in the booth!
