  • advertising ideas during winter

I am trying to search for advertising ideas to do the winter time. I am mobile and live a 1/2 hour away from the area I serve so I can't drive my trailer around to run errands which I think is my biggest problem. I am looking forward to the parades, carnavals, handing out cards at garage sales but I need clients now! I have tried hanging cards with treats on houndreds of mailbox flags, coupon magazines, visiting vet offices and got a few calls from each. About 90% of my clients have rebooked and the rest are short hairs that don't get groomed often. After doing all this advertising and the phone not ringing after it kind of brings you down along with the gloomy clouds and cold!

Well there is always Craigslist, have you tried that? Many groomers utilize it and is won't cost you anything ( a big help when you are slow). Another thought is to offer an incentive to yuour current clients that refer dogs to you; maybe a free teeth brushing or an upgrade to a "spa service." If you offer a freebie, make it something that won't really cost you anything but maybe a few minutes of time.

    Good luck and keep warm!

Try a Yelp ad, also free. Mine gets a few views per day, can't hurt. Do you have a website? My clients in the beginning came mostly from that, I would say about 70%. It is inexpensive and really works as long as you have it set up so that when people do searches it comes up. I also used CL with great success. Got some great clients from that, but i find CL varies from area to area. Some groomers report only getting price shoppers. Thankfully that wasn't my case. If you are new, contact some local publications and see if they would like to do a story on your business. I did that and two small papers wrote articles.

I do have a referal program and each person gets $5 off if they refer someone but only after the new clients first appointment. Every new customer gets a free blueberry facial (doesn't cost me hardly anything). I have tried craigslist but only got spam emails.

I do have a website, maybe you guys can check it out for me
        Pamperparlourmg.com

How do I make it so it shows up through google? The website provider?

Here is the link to submit to Google:

I would go to other search engines too and look around for submit buttons - yahoo, bing, dogpile, ect.
