  • Immune Mediated Polyarthritis

Has anyone ever dealt with this before? What was the outcome, and what did you find helped your dog/ client's dog?

My shih tzu was diagnosed almost 4 weeks ago, so far it seems to be idiopathic and she has been stabilized. I am wondering what the future holds... She is receiving acupuncture and chinese herbals as well as traditional meds (pred and tramadol).

Thanks for any information, it all helps!

Fever of unknown origin, shifting lameness, swollen and painful joints (small joints of the legs and even toes), anorexia, diarrhea, synovial effusion. Blood tests will show extremely elevated white cell count.

Thanks, she is responding well to meds though. She had a relapse in January so we had to start a secondary immuno-suppressant as well, but things have been looking up and she is feeling well again! She will be on them for at least 6 more months, we re-evaluate with her specialist every month.
