  • Zodiac Spot On vs. Frontline

I was just wondering what everyone thought of the Zodiac Spot On. I was thinking of purchasing it for retail. I usually recommend to my clients to use either Frontline, Advantage or Advantix. But I know they think it is very expensive, I tell them it is worth the money. But does this stuff work as well? It says it also repels mosquitoes. I just think this a more affordable option for my clinets, but I want to sell something that works and is not a waste of their money. Also, does anyone use the Zodiac Groomers Pack?

My black lab had a reaction to Zodiac. Her face swelled to twice its size. I felt that I was very careful, but she must have gotten some of it on her face? Gail

To both questions. I buy the Zodiac groomers pack, ALOT more economical that way, and I also like Zodiac products in general for effectiveness. I haven't had a dog react to it, but there's always a first time. It has a rather pleasant citrus smell, and the oily spot on the back where you put it will disappear within about 24 hours.

Oh, I also photocopy the instructions/warning sheet that comes with the spot-ons, and I give one to the client when they pick the dog up. I still do a verbal warning about not using any collars, sprays, powders, etc. in conjunction with the spot-on treatment.

Thanks Roosmom, that is a good idea about photo copying the sheet with the warnings. I am going to order it for retail but haven't decided about the groomers pack yet. I don't know how much to charge to put it on that would cover the cost of the whole package.

I charge five over for applying it, and they get a flea and tick shampoo during the bath. I don't charge extra for 'specialty' shampoos. I would definitely do a F&T shampoo on the dogs that actually have bugs first, to kill what's on them, followed by the spot on when they're finished.

            Roosmom,

Okay, that sounds good. I do charge extra for a flea & tick bath. It depends on how many fleas there are though. But then this could be another add on with that. Is it one tube for any size dog? Or are they different depending on size? I didn't see anything in the ad for it for so I am assuming it's one size fits all?? Thanks for the info.
