  • OH-KY-IN Tristate Groomers Association Update

Hi everyone. We have had a meeting with the organizing committee and we need more information as far as what YOU are looking for in an organization. Do you just want an opportunity to get together with other groomers socially or are you looking for something more?

Please tell us what you are looking for by choosing from the following and ranking them by their importance to you.

    A. Social activities
    B. Continuing Education programs
    C. Advocate for Groomer Legislation within the state(s)
    D. Certification
    E. Seminars
    F. Grooming Competitions
    G. Consumer Education
    H. Other activities

Also, we would like to know how often you would like to meet and how far you are willing to travel for meetings. Would you prefer for the meetings to be held in different parts of the state(s) (ie. one meeting in the Cincinnati/Dayton area, next one in the Akron or Cleveland, another in Toledo, etc). Or would it be better to find a central location like somewhere around Columbus and stick with that for the most part? Should we continue to consider the tri-state idea or just focus on Ohio for now? Would folks from KY and IN be willing to travel to Ohio to participate?

When do people want to meet? Sunday afternoons? Saturday evenings? Another evening? I'm sure this would depend on how far folks have to travel for the meetings . . .

Thanks for your input. We will be meeting a few more times to get things ironed out and then we are looking at the probability of an informal meeting — sort of a meet and greet — sometime around the early part of May.

    tri-state assoc.

I'm from west central Ohio and willing to travel roughly 3 hrs one way. Columbus is ideal (to be completely selfish here). My main interests are continuing ed/cert./seminars! How exciting!

I am in KY and if you are considering all 3 states, Cincinnati would be the center meeting point. If you live in KY or IN Cleveland is on the other side of the world..

Sundays are out for me.. but Saturdays or Mondays usually work best. I am pretty sure most groomers take Mondays off.. I know not all but many

my interests in order of importance

For what it may help, Kathleen--this is what most of our members have answered in their surveys, too! Educational opps. and networking with other groomers and stylists. I gotta say also that I think what you are doing is just fabulous,,and I surely wish I did live closer to you!!

I sent an email a couple of weeks ago but no reply yet. I'm sure getting something like this started would be quite an undertaking.
