LOL I never thought of it like that! It does make him look like a stuffed animal or something.

I am planning on slowly working with Tieka on carding out the soft areas on her neck, like you suggested, but she really doesn't enjoy it. She such a sweetie pie too! She will rock onto her back legs, plop both front paws on my chest and lick me until I stop carding her neck/chest area. She knows how to work me lol.

Tieka looks good. As for her coat, at my shop we card out the wire-haired dogs so they retain some of the texture, even when clippered. I'd imagine she would be sensitive about that area, as you're pulling on the ****** hair (now more deeply rooted in the follicle) to make room for a healthy one. Depending on how sensitive she is, I would just leave it be, or else work it very slowly over a period of several grooms. Whatever you decide, she's a cutie!

Sorry, I can't help with the stripping issue, but I just wanted to say that both Peanut and Tieka look cute and I bet that their mama's were quite happy with them.

Hand Stripped Cairn and Lamb Cut Bichon

Just thought I'd share two of my clients today.

Tieka is the first dog I ever hand stripped two years ago. When I left my old job I never thought I'd see her again, imagine my surprise when she scheduled an appointment! She had been shaved at a box store so the texture of her coat changed in around her neck and chest. Any suggestions on things I can do to expedite the recovery of her wire coat in those areas? She's also rather sensitive about being carded there.

Next is Peanut by favorite client so far. He comes in every 4 to 5 weeks and has a coat to die for! The best Bichon coat I have ever seen. Mom usually had him at least an inch long but wanted to make a little more time for herself by taking him shorter (she brushed him at least twice a day!), so we did a #4 body with 1/2" scissored legs in a modified lamb cut. She also doesn't like a real Bichon head on him, so he gets a little teddy head.
