  • Cowboy the poodle

He is the one I do swirles on, he was a matted mess today so I didnt have much to work with, It's Sunday and I'm grooming him on my day off. I'm tired already from last week. Mom said dont worry about doing anything special cause he was such a mess, so I just did a quick design.
I have my blo-pens coming, they are just not here yet. Next time he comes, he is in trouble LOL

You were tired when you did this!! I'd hate to see what you can do when you're well rested!lol

Love the cowboy you did on his hip

        I am so impressed!!!!

Please let me pick your brain!!!! Do you do this freehand, or do you have a stencil or do you trace the pattern somehow then follow it??? What blade do you use? Like do you use a snap on a/o then use the other blade to do the swirls??? PLEASE share your secrets.....lol.....I have 2 fosters that I can practice on (I call them fosters but they will never be adopted so I guess they are mine...lol) One is a Schnauzer and the other is a Chow X....so there is plenty of hair. They are both already pretty ugly so if I mess up.........lol J/K.

One more question. Does anyone use food coloring to dye dogs anymore, or is it just the blow pens or chalk?
        Thanks!

Shelia- I used a #2 cv on his body then used a small 5/8 blade for the designs. No stencils, just go with the flow, there is alot of scissoring following the design but it is worth it. I also have a small hand held battery Wahl clipper that I used last time and when I carved his name. The smaller the blade, the better (width wise) If you have a dog to try it on, go for it! Its fun LOL

That's really cool. I'd love to try freehand.

                Awesome groom!

I wish my customers were more open minded on me being creative like that. I've been dying to do something like that for a long time. How did you get her to let you do that?
