  • Bouvier and Shih tzu

Sorry the bouvier's pic isn't that great, I was in a rush, I did 6 grooms and 5 baths, one being the bouv! I did a wahl A comb on the body, scissored the legs, and an A comb reverse on the top of the head.

Actually, I used an A comb on the shih tzu also. lol I didn't do the best job on him, but he didn't enjoy his beauty treatment, so I did a "good enough" job on him.

It's kinda hard to see the Bouv, pic is dark. The shih tzu looks a lot better than the before pic! Good job.

The bouvier looks great! Not that I am any expert, lol. The only Bouvier's I do get shaved! And I can't believe the difference on the before and after for the shihtzu! What a cutie!

Thanks, I've only done the bouvier once before and she was more matted this time, but using a mat king helps quite a bit.

The shih wasn't too matted except the top of his head. Ironically I think the matting somehow made the head poofier when I dried him, because I've never had a shih's head fluff up as well as that one.

A Trick From mario De Fante

Many years ago at a seminar by mario de Fante ( John Stazko & he worked together as traveling demos). Mario demonstrated parting a Shi Tzus head in quarters , twist section and nick at base, then each side uo about middle. Cut top . If you can do four good or one pony tail twisted with nicks :cut top let it go and it sticks up. Works good on Westie heads.

Sorry, I'm a little confused, can you explain it further? I could just be having a blonde moment. lol

Lifting fur on Shi tzu heads

Take the fur ( must be long enough to make a pony tail.Comb fur by oarting fur intyo quarters . take ea section one at a time and twist the pony tail. If you have to use a tiny rubber band , you could. Snip a lil nick at base of the pony tail, then up a bit front and back;then snip tip. To keep out of your way, keep it in rubber band. Then do next section across from first.Do this 4 times. Because you part the fur in a cross. Or, because it is kinda hard to oart and twist etc. you can do one ponytail and twist it, then do the nicks low close to head the up a bit front and back. Cut top off and let it go. It works on many Shi-tzus and Westies and maltese type heads. The parting 4 times takes practice, but the fur will stand up usually...if not then use a snap on to make it look better.I wish there was a video. Did I explaon it better. Pony tail must be twisted at time of cutting the nicks in it. The rubber band only keeps that section away from the others while you are working on them. You have to play around with it...try it on someone whos owner is easy going. The snap on comb will fix it if you don't like the results.I have a clipper vac and use snap ons on the head back to front, creating a visor. The scissor tech is a substitute for snap on and it stands up punky-like.
