  • A cocker

This is Duke, he is 12 and a farm dog. Well now that he is older he has to stay closer to home, but when he was a young man, he was right out in the middle of everything, along side his 4 border collie brothers. He even got to help irrigate. He comes in every month. Some times in the summer we clip him all the way down, he is growing out in this picture. I forgot to take a "before" picture, but he is such a pretty boy I wanted to share his picture with all of you.

Please feel free to make any comments. His line looks a little low, but once he is fully grown out, it will look better.

Duke is beautiful and he's a farm dog too - Wow I'm impressed! I get some farm dogs in where I have to keep double checking which end is which....hard to tell the head from the rear kind of thing. He's a looker - you did a really nice job. I'm sure his owners were thrilled!

WOW, the farm dogs around here don't even resemble a breed let alone look like a cocker and can be groomed like one:-)

Duke is really exceptional, he is well bred and has a beautiful coat. Most definately one of the best cockers I groom. He is a baby about his feet, but doesn't bite just cries when getting his front toe nails cut.

He may not look like a farm dog, but there have been times, in his youth that he defiantely smelled like a farm dog. Three baths later I finally would get the smell out.

I have been grooming him for 6.5 years now, he comes in every month, and they schedule for the whole year each January.

          Hes' still got IT.

He is a nice looking boy. Worth the effort eh? Lot of work. Do you cage dry ...or HV with that thick fur on legs!?I like his lines. Hope owners care for his coat. matted brush out would be too much for me.

Duke never comes in matted, just DIRTY. He may have an occasional mat in the under arm, but I just shave them out. Thank goodness. On the Friday that he comes in it is a family day. I do mom's dog, a golden, sisters dog, a border collie, another sisters dog, a lab, and Duke. As far as drying he gets both, kennel & HV. He takes ALONG time to dry, and being as old as he is, he needs breaks. So he gets a bath, towel dry and a bit of HV drying, then off to the cage for a nap and some warm air, while I do the others. Then he gets finished. I usually start that Friday at 8:30am and they all go home at 1pm. Short day and good money. Gotta love those Friday's.
