  • Shih Tzu I groomed today

I do this Shih Tzu every month. The owner always combs him out. I usually just find knots around his collar and under his armpits. The owner was diagnosed with cancer about 2 months ago. She just started Kemo and has been extremely weak lately. She hasn't been able to comb him and her husband wont do it. So he came in today matted, not to horribly because she tries to brush him when she does have some strength. So I held him up while my boss brushed his tummy and the back legs, because as we all know Shih Tzu's like to lay down. Both my boss and I took our time brushing and combing him and we were able to get all of them out without hurting him. He's a cutie..

He is cute. I would try a Coat King on the matted areas but dont overdo it. Lots of conditioner.

I love the coloring on his face...especially the black muzzle. Even though your customer is going through chemo, which can zap anyone's strength, I admire her for still trying to keep her pup brushed out.

Now there's a special dog... I'm sure it's very helpful to the owner just having him around during this tough time.

Awwwww - he's adorable!! I love this breed anyway, and he looks exceptionally sweet. I'm sure he appreciated the clean up too.

He's adorable. I don't cut anything on him except around him bum a little and a small spot on the top of his head right in the middle. I don't even shave his tummy. He's a naughty boy. He bites and fights and wiggles and does everything that a little Shih Tzu does. As soon as his mom picked him up he was so calm and was such a little angel.

I would use conditioner on him but his coat is so soft and fluffy that I didn't use it this time just to see if that was making him matted.

Nice Job! Wish I had more clients that would brush out their zu's...seems like they all get a #4 or #5, round head, round feet, short ears and tail....boring...

I would recommend using conditioner with a couple of drops of coat oil in his coat. It not only helps you get the matts out after the bath, but it also helps to maintain the coat between grooms.

He looks gorgeous! It's refreshing to see a shih tzu thats not completly shaved down. I never use conditioner on mine after he's washed because it attracks dirt and makes him dirty looking quicker. I only use it before I wash him to help with brushing then i wash it all out.

Very sweet looking pup. I think it's so nice of you to dematt this dog for the owner. Obviously she takes care of him, but is having a hard time. I would've done the same. I rarely dematt, but I think I would've done it for this deserving owner.

                              Nice job

I know dematting can be tiring. Have you thought about offering to brush him out once a week for the owner for a minimal fee?
