  • Pandy

This is Pandy, she is a 4 month old shichon or what ever you would call it bichon. This was her first hair cut, and my first cut with my new ivac. I am not really used to useing the attachment combs. The owner did not want much taken off. So, this is what I did.

It is going to take a lot of getting used to. It is heavy and akward. I always find myself putting it down and grabbing ol faithful Andis. The dang hose gets in the way.

Do you have a clipper vac system, or did you just attach it to the shop vac? Joe said it's possible and cheaper to hook it to the shop vac with the same result. He said I could upgrade to a larger shop vac for more hair storage.

I was like you when I first got my iVac. I didn't think I would EVER get used to it and would always grab for my trustee Andis. Now, almost a year later the oposite is true and I even bought a back-up so I didn't have to do w/out it when it is out for repair (which unfortunately in my case has been quite often).

Just keep working w/it and you WILL get used to it and see how much better your grooms turn out. One thing I did that helped a lot was to put a hook in the ceiling to hang the hose from. It takes a lot of the weight off of the clipper and I don't trip over it as often. I got this tip off of this board (where else...lol) but I don't remember who gave it to me.

One thing w/the iVac that rreally frustrated me was the tracking it did on the straight coats. The solution to this was to use a higher comb or blade and go ATG w/the regulator opened. It leaves a smooth and beautiful finish!!

I hook up to the shop vac. Don't really need a larger one. I keep a trash bag back there. Depending on how much hair I know I sucked up I will check the vac and empty it quick while I check the water levels.
