  • Old Charlie

This is Charlie and he is nearly 14. Today was probably his last groom. This last year has been especially difficult for him. Of course his grooming won't win him or me any awards I groom him for comfort only at this point in his life. It takes a lot out of him and he needs several breaks. He has never had a nice coat like most Irish Setters it has always been very fuzzy, but as I told him today "what you don't have in coat you make up for in personality". Charlie has always gotten a buzz cut, after all he had things to do when he was a youngster, like help look after 3 boys, they took Charlie everywhere with them, camping, hiking, fishing, the boys are all grown up now and not living at home, but they all still love him very much as do his mom and dad. I have always enjoyed grooming this old fella.

          Beautiful dog!

All I had to do was take one look at that happy old face, and my eyes teared up and I got a lump in my throat. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks for sharing that sweet story. Charlie sure has had a great life and a great groomer to care for him. Don't write him off yet though he looks like he still has a spark in his eyes and you may see him again!!!

Very kind of you to move this up, Scoop. I did see your answer in the general listing but I wanted to be sure you knew how much I appreciate it! He really is a sweet old boy, isn't he?

He looks like a happy guy that has just got to spend sometime with his groomer who has cared for him and makes him comfortable after all these years. Very sweet!! Thanks for sharing him with us.
