Fur blows back as Tricia Pope dries off Benji, a mixed breed dog, on Tuesday at Wags Pet Salon in Windsor. Tricia has owned the dog grooming business for 25 years. (Joshua Polson/[email protected])

When Tricia Pope graduated high school, she knew she wanted to do something with animals.

After working at a grooming shop in Evans, then Greeley, then Fort Collins, she opened her own grooming business, Wags Pet Salon, at 23 in her garage in Windsor.

    That was 25 years ago.

She knew working for herself would be more profitable, Pope said, especially with her garage- turned- grooming salon leaving her with little overhead..............
