  • Fire Damaged Grooming Business to Re-open

OXFORD — A South Paris dog-grooming business, destroyed by fire in February, is expected to reopen in the coming weeks.

Nicole Nickerson, owner of Pampered Pups, said she is renting space at the Oxford Mini Mall at 1600 Main St.

“It’s the building that has the Subway in it,” Nickerson said. “I’m working on setting that up right now. I just finished painting, and I had the plumber come in to look at the bathtub so we can wash the animals.”

Sgt. Ken Grimes said in February that a malfunctioning heat pump caused the fire that destroyed the commercial building at 41 Western Ave., including Pampered Pups, along with the residence of Steve and Carole Barrett, who owned the building and lived in the apartment above the garage.

The Barretts were not injured in the fire.

Nickerson said that while she does not have a definite date to reopen the business, she hopes to have an open house on a Saturday in the next couple of weeks.................
