  • How one local woman turned her passion for pets into a successful biz with 4 location

For Kimberly Dye, Baths Barks & Bubbles Pet Spa is her home, the dogs she and her pet-grooming team care for are her "babies," and their "parents" are her clients. Dye, also known as "Aunt Kim," treats every dog as if it were her own--she primps and preps them, throws them birthday parties, dyes their fur different colors, holds their paws during their final moments, and even sits in on surgeries at the request of nervous pup parents.

Since opening the inaugural Baths Barks & Bubbles Pet Spa in January 2012 on 14th Street South, Dye has expanded her business into four locations--three in Birmingham and one in Hueytown. Her lifelong love of dogs and her unwavering faith encouraged her through a period of homelessness before she became a successful small business owner. She credits her accomplishments to her God-given support system of family, clients, and, of course, her babies.

"Every morning I pray for people and puppies," Dye says. "Because I can't have my places without people, and I can't have my places without puppies."...............
