  • Dog Groomers Provide Place of Comfort

Any dog owner knows how helpful it is to have trusted hands willing to take care of their pet. When it comes to keeping the dogs looking good, or making sure they have a comfortable, safe stay while they are out of town, Arizona City residents have come to rely on Desert Pet Oasis owner Amy Ludwig, and that word has spread through other communities as well.
Desert Pet Oasis opened two-and-a-half years ago in a building that used to be a mechanic’s shop. The big garage doors on the side of the building that was used to bring in vehicles serves little purpose now, but it might be seen symbolically as a welcome for bigger dogs.
Ludwig had been running a home-based grooming company in Arizona City since 2004, but with her kids getting older and demand for services for larger breeds that couldn’t be accommodated in her home, she decided a permanent building made a lot of sense. Now, she can work on any breed of dog, no matter how big and no matter how aggressive.
“A lot of people call me the dog whisperer, because they don’t know how I do it,” Ludwig said. “You just have to take it slow and not get the dog scared. You want them to feel like they’re at home instead of just in a production line.”
It’s this kind of wisdom she learned from her mother, who was a dog groomer in downtown Casa Grande in the 1980s, so grooming has been her life’s passion. Now she can pass it down to more people, with her ability to hire three people to help her run the shop................
