  • Layton Mobile Groomer Take Second at Northwest Show

LAYTON—Cassandra Shuler, a pet groomer from Layton, finished second in Rescue Round-Up at the Northwest Grooming Show dog grooming contest in Tacoma, Wash. The contest, which was sponsored by Groomer to Groomer magazine, featured top competition groomers competing with adoptable rescue dogs. The dogs were provided by Gurrs and Purrs Rescue.

For her finish, Shuler took home an invitation to the Rescue Round-Up Invitational at Groom Expo 2016 in Hershey, Penn., a trophy, cash and featured coverage in the grooming industry’s most prestigious magazine, Groomer to Groomer. She won with a Parson Russell Terrier Mix named Jenny.

Shuler began her grooming career as an apprentice with a local groomer. After six months, she began taking her own clients. She continued her education and training by attending grooming conventions bi-annually in Pennsylvania and California. She also started a second apprenticeship under Karen Drozd, CMFG, NCMG and training session with former competition groomer Tammy Ellis, NCMG.

Shuler started national competition grooming by entering in the 2016 Northwest Grooming Show Rescue Round-Up. Shuler is owner and Lead Pet Stylist for The Classy K9 Mobile Pet Salon.
