  • Montana Pet Advises Pet Owners to Interview Their Groomers

    MISSOULA, Mont. -
NBC Montana visited Pruyn Veterinary Hospital in Missoula Tuesday. We wanted to get reaction over a dog that died under a dog groomer's care at a California PetSmart.

Dr. Minott Pruyn said he treats dog grooming injuries infrequently. He said they are not common in western Montana. But they do happen.

The veterinarian said he has treated a wide range of accidental grooming injuries.

"We've had skin burning from drying facilities," he said, "and accidental lacerations on the skin and injuries to the skeleton. We've had choking injuries from dogs that have fallen or been grabbed in an attempt to keep them from falling."

Pruyn said most Missoula dog groomers are reputable and take good care of their dogs..............
