CRYSTAL LAKE – When 5-year-old shih tzu-mix Meeko arrived at On Angels Wings Pet Rescue the staff knew the spirited little guy was loved.

But what they also knew was clumps of matted fur that had built up over three years without haircuts or regular medical attention were preventing Meeko from being able to see and making him uncomfortable.
