    I found her about 1:00 a.m.

I knew when I went to bed there was a chance the worst might occur. However, I could not believe it when I felt her body and there was no breath. I started to cry and I railed against what took her. I had tried hard to save her, but in the end, I think the drug to save her probably ended her life.

I hate losing these kinds of battles. They are the worst kind to lose. My heart aches. My body cannot figure out why this has to happen when I try so hard. She depended on me! I let her down.

The worst kind of heartbreak is to know you have been given a gift of the responsibility of a life and you did not save it.

Her name was Hao. I named them both at the same time. Ni and Hao; in Chinese, Ni Hao means Hello. They were two senior female Pekingese who had been dumped at the pound because they were too old. I took them and loved them from the beginning. Two lost souls that nobody but me and the rescue cared about.

Forget-Me-Not Peke Rescue was established by Adell Lanz and when it comes to caring for the uncared for, Adell is the best. She owns K-9-Karousel, which is grooming and boarding, but her passion is for the little ones who have been cast aside and who otherwise would be given the needle to rid the world of another discarded pet............
