  • "Forget the Pricey Groomer"

    http://www.courier-journal.com/artic...396/1010/rss04

Your dog smells like a pair of sweat socks that have been dunked in cabbage soup. Little Spanky needs a bath, now. Forget the pricey groomer and tackle this one yourself. It will be quicker and cheaper and can be a bonding experience for the two of you.

Stephen: Perhaps we can retitle this to "How to Create a Matted Mess While Bonding With Your Dog" at least for those breeds and mixes that shed and retain their undercoat. More pelts for the Gulf spill in the making.

I think they forgot a couple of steps.

Wash all scratches and bite wounds on your hands and arms. Use plenty of soap and water and flush them out well.

If wounds are bleeding, apply direct pressure until it stops. If you can't stop it, skip the next steps and go directly to the emergency room.

Once wounds are clean, and bleeding stopped, apply antibiotic ointment and bandage. If wounds are gaping, they need stitches. Skip the ointment, just apply bandage and head for the emergency room or your doctor's office.

As you pay for all the above medical treatment, think about how much cheaper the pricey groomer is.

Amen, Stephen,,,dumb, dumb dumb article, and another abuse of the media for one uneducated person to spout off about something they know nothing about.
Bonding?Yes,,,but leave the full-on grooming to us pros and don't be a cheapskate, either. Jeez.

          Yeah, sure, hahaha

If only it were all that easy!! But usually, after trying it once, most people are very happy to pay someone else to do it, lol.

I don't see anything wrong with clients giving a bath at home-between groomings. At least they emphasized the need for brushing and combing before and after. It's when the owners pick up the scissors and clippers that things get really scary.
Old groomers never die, they just go at a slower clip.

            Groom on!!!

People always come in and say, " I cant get Fluffy's nails done, whyyyyyy." or they say " Fluffy would never sit still for [email protected]!" People don't appreciate our jobs until they try it at home. If they want to go bathe their dog at home, they will come running back when they realize Fluffy is a brat for everything they do. Then, bathing at home turns into a shave down because most owners don't grasp the concept of brushing.
