Michigan Proposal to Tax Grooming Services

If the Governor has her way, all services will be taxed 2%. The article in the Destroit News actually pointed out that pet owners would have to pay 2% tax on pet grooming services. You can search the article at www.detnews.com but that's all that relates to grooming. At this stage it is only her proposal, not adopted yet.

Don't you charge sales tax on grooming? When I lived in Ia., there was a time when we didn't need to collect tax on "services", but that changed. It wasn't a big deal, the laws change. Just be sure and collect it, I didn't at first and had to pay it myself.

I now live in Tx. and we charge sales tax on grooming.

KS has taxed grooming for quite some time now--since the early 90s, I believe.

7% tax for services here, including grooming.Sucks.

No tax on services here I called 20 times before I opened and was assured that I did not chare Tax.
