Ok, I don't have an accountant yet and I know nothing about taxes. If you can tell me anything having to do with taxes, that I should know please tell. I will get an accountant later but is there anything I should be doing now to prepare? How would I keep track of taxes? My dba will start running in the paper tomorrrow so I havn't started business yet. Anything you got, I'll take... gimmee gimmee!!!

Two things to get in the habit to do is to save ALL of your reciepts. Cleaning supplies, envelopes, dog food, even if it is only for a couple of dollars it adds up and helps. I use a shoe box for my reciepts. This way I can just toss them in and sort through them later. Another thing that helps is to keep a mileage log. You can get these at any office supply store. Any time you run a errand for the business mark it down in the log. If you go to Walmart for some groceries for your home and you pick up a ffew things for work you can count that too. Those miles add up and can knock some serious change off of the tax bill!

Get a good accountant that knows small business inside out. They'll give you tips on organizing everything they'll need at tax time and can find you as many writeoffs as possible. Well worth it!

Thanks for the good advice. The small business administration finally called me back today after about 3 weeks! They'll probably be a good help too.
