Default i'm looking at entering my first competition next year.any tips?

i have recently found out that there is a grooming comp literally the next town over (the great north groom) and i mentioned it in passing to my lovely boss that id like to go and watch .she wanted me to enter this years comp ! i politely decliened as i said that 1 i dont have the right dog 2 ive never competed before so i need to find out more about what i need to look for in said dog and then i need to spend the time growing the coat out for it. she said she has faith taht i would do really well in it and that i need to have more confidence in my self and in my abilties in grooming.

the thought of just jumping in with out a clue is scary (but fun) so ive emailed them to find out more about what class would suit me best and what not . but what tips and suggestions can you guys who do compete give me ? anything that will help me prep for next year.

    thank you in advance.

Windywaycavaliers here wrote a book about that. She has the Wisconsin association, I bet she still has it available.
