What vendors did you go to???? I have NEVER seen but one or two vendors take nothing but cash. NEVER and I have worked with 5 or 6 myself. I know Aussiedog doesnt take anything but cash but never seen anyone else do it.

They took credit, but only at a minimum of 15$, I'm just saying the bandana guy, fabric, bows table, the general merchandise in the middle, told me they preferred to be paid in cash. The Chris Christensen booth I just handed a credit card as it was a $200 plus purchase. Another vendor I bought scents at wanted cash.

But they don't know that until there is an audit, and I lost 3 days of work from an audit about 5 years ago. 3 days of income lost, and I didn't owe anything when done.

But that's not my point. I like having less cash around. Two groomers have been robbed of their bank deposits here in the last year. While walking down the street out in the open to the bank with lots of people around, not only groomers. Rarely makes the news, seems to happen a lot.

My FIL has been running a check/cash only business for 20+ years and has never had a audit. If you are trying to hide money and start living outside your "means" (at least what "means" you are showing on paper) that's when the IRS gets suspicious. If you have a good Accountant and aren't trying to hide money you won't have a problem. I've been running my own Home Based business for 5 years and no problems so far. The IRS knows that for many small businesses using a CC reader just doesn't pay. Especially with things like google wallet, apple pay, and venmo out there now. As long as you are being honest with your business dealings/taxes you've got nothing to fear. Can't blame you for getting rid of the reader. Run your business the way you want to. IMO it gets too complicated to charge a fee for credit cards. If your business is small enough that you need to charge a fee then I'd say you don't really need a reader.

I love not having it! I have had no problems and customers haven't minded once they got use to it.

Wonderful. I think most people who frequent single groomer run shops understand a cash only business. Today I paid my business tax receipt and of course the good ole government charges a convenience fee for debit or credit card use. No surprise there, oh the irony.

Yep, that is right. I've heard you pay your taxes with a credit card and you get an extra charge. So, I just write Em a check. Knock on wood, but I've been in business since November 2002, taking check and cash only, with no problems.
