I tried using the software included in the 123Pet grooming shop software, but I'm going back to my Quick Books Pro.

    Arrow Quickbooks

Quickbooks is the best accounting software. Accountants like to use it, which means you pay less to your accountant at year end. If you sell retail products Quickbooks POS is the best software by far. You will always get good accurate information from Quickbooks and it's easy to learn. I am an accountant/grooming shop owner and tried 123Pet software made specifically for the grooming industry, but found it severly lacked in accurate accounting functions, which made the reports from the software unusable garbage. The worse part is that this company knows there is a problem, but refuses to fix it.

While we can't speak to the accuracy of the account reports in 123Pet (and ShihTzuLuvR, please let us know what they are) we assume they are correct and we did use the reports and gave those to our accountant who had no problem with them. If there's anything to the contrary I would hope they would be posted.

As a consultant I have setup hundreds of systems over the last 15 years and I have worked with interfaces including 123Pet and had no problem ONCE the interface was done correctly. That was also my job for many years in legal accounting...and the old saying garbage in garbage out applies. Now some of the problems I found was not with 123Pet but how the QBooks was setup to receive. This is not a easy process and mistakes are understandable. It's not a easy plugin situation, because every Qbooks user has so much flexibility setting up their G/L it is REALLY EASY to have the data sent to the wrong G/L accounts and it only takes 1 little error to throw off the books. That's what I have found with perhaps 50 plus sets of Qbooks by groomers interfaced with 123Pet or Kennel Connection and others. It's usually the destination G/L. You have to set it up, then run a report following the transactions and balance to a Trial Balance. That last step is essential to verify and that's where I usually found the problems.

Arrow Doc and Admin - My Point Exactly

Thank you for making my point for me, Doc and Admin. Doc, your accountant may have had "no problem" with what you gave them, but how much easier (cheaper) would it have been if what you gave them had been BETTER? And Admin, you are spot on - someone either has to be an accountant to use 123 work out of the box (especially when a groomer also has retail sales), or hire a consultant to fix the problems. And even then when the problems are 'fixed', what you get out of 123 still isn't as good as what QuickBooks gives you. Simple as that.

One of the neat things about Quickbooks Pro 2009 is the seamless integration with my merchant services account. Intuit handles my credit and debit card transactions through a laptop application. When they fund my account, I get a notice in Quickbooks that the money has been sent to my bank account. I just click and the funds, fees, and discounts are automatically inserted into the proper account.

I also cut my merchant service fees by about 70 percent using them, as I don't need to rent a terminal and their discount rate is one of the best I found.

Stephen: That's good info, I have been thinking about switching to their merchant services too. I am glad to hear a review.

Quickbooks is a good solution. But for me it is pricey. The integration is good but I fell some problem while using linux by winehq like auto shut down. But the reporting was really good. I am using Zipbooks for my pet-grooming business. It lightweight and user friendly. Its https://zipbooks.com if you look for it. Another one I love is PetLinx.

I also use QB and find it very easy. But then again, I ran my prior business on it and multiple law firms' books, so I have lots of experience with this and other legal accounting interfaces.

I use QB. Doing payroll with it can be expensive with the annual fee for payroll, but you can use QB online for much less a year without buying software.
