Wow Staple in the ear leather

Can you believe it? I found a staple, business style, in a dog's ear today. She said, oh it was probably the kids! I refused services and rescheduled and said please to the vet now. Poor thing.

Poor dog! Those 'little darlings' should get severe punishment for that...but probably won't. Parents don't act like parents today. They want to be the child's friend instead. Coal in their stockings, I say!!

OMG.. that is terrible. I had a lab that needed hematoma surgery and unbeknownst to me, the vet left two sutures in my dog's ear. That ear for 4 months would not heal. Just kept almost blowing back up again. I had to take the dog to the vet derm.. and asked the vet to take a look at it. Oh it'll be fine he said and he gave him a steroid injection. Didn't work.. so we had an appt with another vet. My dog was enrolled in a study for fatty tumors and I asked THAT vet to take a look.. he said.. it'll heal. It didn't. So I took him to another vet for another opinion and she told me because my dog's skin was so bad that I needed to take him back to the dermatologist. Uh.. we were just there. I finally took my dog back to the vet who did the surgery, who was on vacation, thank goodness, and told his substitute vet.. re-do the ear. Yeah.. that's when he found the 2 sutures. (by the way what brilliant vet uses suture material that's the same color as the dog? My dog's ear then healed.

So... all that to say... good thing you caught it. I can't believe it. Someone needs to be watching those kids. That poor dog. I can only imagine how that did not feel good at all. Hopefully all they did was put a staple in his ear and nowhere else. Shameful really.

Reminds me of a poorly kept poodle that had a rubber band imbedded into its skin around the lower back leg. I had to take hemostats and pull it through and out. The skin grew over it. Client said probably her kids put it on and forgot about it.

If it were me, I would have taken pics of the staple and then removed it. Who knows if the client would have went to a vet.

Wow, owner was so casual about it too. I think the closest I've had is a sewing needle in a dogs leg. "Got into the craft room".

I found a rubber wrapped around teeth in the gums! OMG my heart was deflated for that poor dog. We got the owner to the vet asap and even guaranteed we would cover the office visit, just do it. The vet financed the rest for them.

I wished you were kidding. That must hurt. You did a good thing.
