    Smile Shops with ID collars

I talked with a groomer that went to Hershey and she and her gang looked into systems to ID pets in their care. Surely good in boarding but 2 of them were already using in staffed shops, about 4 to 5 employee size. If the dog or cat was to get loose from the property the collar info provides a toll-free number to call the groomer/kennel and there is a health alert notice for special care dogs. Pretty cool idea I think. She said a mobile groomer there was also considering using the system in case a pet got loose from the van or slipped away on the return to the pet owners front door.

I could see where collars may be helpful, bit collars can also get ripped/pulled off and lost if the pet gets loose. What about just asking if the pet is microchiped and if not recommending it?

Years ago I was on another grooming board and this one shop had personalized bandannas they put on each dog. Well.. they got a call one day, someone had found this dog (that had gotten out from home) and since it still had the bandanna on, they called the groomer. Owner and dog were reunited. I thought that was rather clever.

I know some vets use those sticky collars with the name and number of the dog and owner.. but I don't know how we would work around it?? I rip off those Seresto flea collars in a hot second. Won't touch them and won't work around them.

Do you have a link to the system by any chance?

I love the idea if they make a simpler of doing it.
