    Skeptical Cat Now what? Hacked

OMG! After my posting about fb last week and closing out my accts with.them, My email got hacked! What a pain. They have locked down my email acct ( thank goodness I had another one to change pg to) They have locked down my contacts, so they are "safe". This had my debit card involved so I had to hotcard it. Thats how I figured out I had been hacked, they tried to use my debit card and it was denied, lol, dont keep much in that acct. Now, I know this had NOTHING to do with fb, it was due to a software down load I.had to do on my phone by wifi only. So apparently someone got my info when I was on wifi. (Dont have.wifi at home had to go to a left unsaid public place to access wifi)
Oh, and they got into one of my busness ads and had a grand old time messing it up, got that fixed.
Anyway, I just wanted to rant a bit, so I did. And I feel a bit better now!

if you know someone who is tech-savvy you could always ask them to root your smart phone. My husband installed a different OS on our phones, and we also have all of our computers (4) with a Linux OS. Using Linux or other non-windows OSs makes a lot of the spyware, malware, etc, just go away. The viruses and junk are all designed to hurt windows, so if you don't have windows...no junk. One thing though, when you have your phone rooted it voids the warranty. so it depends on which is the lesser of the two evils.

OS stands for Operating System. Windows and Android are both operating systems. Android is made by Google. Windows is Microsoft. I was just talking to my husband about this and he is wondering if you had your wifi security settings correct. Did you have it encrypted, or even turned on? He said to check that first and see. If your phone is rooted you will still have an Android OS, but you will have more abilities as the admin to change things to your liking. The catch-22 is that you need to have the tech knowledge to change the settings and you need to know what apps to install and all that. This is why I'm super glad I'm married to a techie nerd These things I learn....

Thank you for the info Woofus. Yes, I am positive I had it encripted and all settings were right. I am not techy in the least but I went over it with my cell server so they would be right, lol. Dont know anyone techy to root my phone ( dont know what root my phone means either, lol) Thanks again for your replies!!!!!
