    Default ponydoodle...

So Paris was in a modern trim before, but I'm pregnant and sooooooooo hated the last time I groomed her; it just looked terrible! So shaved her off into a 'ponydoodle' trim (with tasseled ears)

    coloured the mane & tail:

    and plaited the tassels

She had 2 years of growth on her ears (she was in a full german trim in Aug 2009, I haven't trimmed her ears since then... until now!) and had inches of hair on her body & legs. Allllllll off with the 5/8"HT blade in about 5 mins!

she loves it and thinks she's the spunkiest thing on earth right now!

hahaha! Her jacket DOES look a bit like a horse blanket! I banged it together last night (the jacket) with no real pattern (Here Paris, lay down on your side for me while I try draw around you....) and an old needle and some wool... so I'm pleased it even fits her! lol. I'll make a better one later, but it works for now!

And yup, I'm LOVING the easy care! I don't really care now if she gets muddy (which she was promptly doing in those out-side photos) cos it's gonna be sooooo easy to clean her up!

And to be honest, this style suits her personality soooooooo much more than the previous 'proper regal poodle' styles she had going before. This spunky lil machine is FAR more 'her'!

When I saw the title of your thread I thought...NOOOOOO!! Don't tell me that this is a new hybrid between a miniature horse and a poodle....if I have to learn to groom that I'm handing in my walking papers and going back to my former career as a brain surgeon!! LOL!! ANYWAY...she is absolutely adorable, she knows it and is feeling mighty groovy! Cute as a button!

I nearly cried when i saw the thread... NO! NOT PARIS!! NOT A PONYDOODLE!!!

But she looks stunning. Good for you, and good for your lower back and ankles as well. How far along are ya?

lol k9snfelines, it *is* a tongue in cheek jab at the designer dogs thing, I got my inspiration from http://www.caninehorizons.com/The_Ponydoodle.html

FunkyPuppy, I *did* post that I was intending to pony-doodle her after the groomalong in Aug, it's just I did it a bit earlier cos the groomalong idea went to pot when her final groom got screwy! lol!!! This trim suits her quirky personality so SO much better anyway, so she pulls it off well I think! haha! Ankles and lower back etc are all good so far, I'm coming up to 6 months along now though so I expect that'll all go to pot soon... Hence my pre-emptive measures to reduce work by shaving her down (and hey, if you're gonna shave down, might as well have some fun with it!) I almost can't wait to bath her and see how fast she dries now.

Thanks for the link to the Pony Doodle, I loved it. A saw one a few yrs. ago at a show. The ones featuredon the site give great detail on what a "true pony doodle" should look like. No fake knock-offs! I am encouraged to try this, I am drawn to something a bit "different".

I think the look is really complete with a "halti", this looks just like a halter! Another advantage to this hybred is that it can even be housebroke! (j/k)

Your girl really does look happy! We forget that these beautiful modelesque St.P's are really dogs that just love to play.
